Clinical Rotations at St. Nicholas University
It’s time to put your theory into practice as you begin your Clinical Rotations program with St. Nicholas University. This is where classroom knowledge truly comes alive as you gain invaluable hands-on experience working with animals under the guidance of experienced veterinarians.
Overview of the Clinical Training Program
The clinical training program at St. Nicholas University takes place during semesters 8-10 of our DVM program and spans over 45 weeks.
It is designed to offer students supervised and evaluated practical training at our affiliated schools/colleges in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and locations in the Caribbean region.
This immersive experience allows SNU students to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, preparing them for a successful career in veterinary medicine.
Core Clinical Rotation
Small Animal Medicine
(4 weeks)Includes Preventive Health Maintenance and Community Practice preparing you to address the needs of small animals.
Small Animal Surgery
(4 weeks)Includes Preventive Health Maintenance and Community Practice preparing you to address the needs of small animals.
Large Animal Medicine & Surgery
(4 weeks)Includes Preventive Health Maintenance and Community Practice preparing you to address the needs of small animals.
Medical Services - (4 weeks)
This rotation includes:
- Anesthesiology (2 weeks)
- Diagnostic Imaging (2 weeks)
Diagnostic Services - (4 weeks)
This rotation includes:
- Diagnostic Pathology (2 weeks)
- Diagnostic laboratory (2 weeks)
Elective Rotations and Externships
Some of the Benefits of Clinical Training include:
ECFVG and PAVE
SNU is listed by the American Veterinary Medical Association, and its graduates qualify for entrance into the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) or the Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE) certification programs.
St. Nicholas University School of Veterinary Medicine graduates are eligible to practice veterinary medicine in the United States and Canada without restrictions once they pass the requisite licensing examinations.
Students may choose either or both of the ECFVG and PAVE pathways to licensure.
